The Sydney Harbour Bridge (SHB) will close in both directions on Sunday 22 January from 3am to 10am to facilitate a filming project.

Transport for NSW Acting Deputy Secretary Greater Sydney Howard Collins said the Sydney Harbour Tunnel will remain open while filming was underway.

“It is great to see our iconic infrastructure on the global stage but we do urge motorists to avoid the area or postpone travel until after 10am if possible. While the tunnel will stay open, delays are expected on detour routes,” Mr Collins said.

“Motorists, including operators of freight and Oversize Overmass vehicles, can also consider using Victoria Rd and Gladesville Bridge as an alternative.

“The Cahill Expressway Circular Quay Overpass will also close from 1am to 12.30pm. The Cahill Expressway walkway will close between 2.30am and 12.30pm.

“The SHB cycleway and footpath will close from 5.30am to 10am. Trains will continue to operate across the SHB while it is closed to vehicles, pedestrians and cyclists.

“A Sydney Harbour Exclusion Zone will be in effect from 5.30am to 10am. Ferries and private boats may be impacted intermittently during filming.

“We also encourage pedestrians and cyclists to avoid the area while closures are in place.”

Mr Collins advised customers to consider taking a train if they needed to travel in the area during the SHB closure.

“Buses will terminate either side of the SHB in the Sydney CBD and North Sydney from 3am to 10am. Customers can catch trains to continue their trips,” Mr Collins said.

All citybound traffic from the Western Distributor will detour via the Bathurst St off-ramp and all traffic accessing the Western Distributor from Fig and Pyrmont streets will detour via the King St off-ramp.

Local roads beneath the Sydney Harbour Bridge in Dawes Point and Milsons Point/Kirribilli, including sections of Hickson Rd, Alfred St South and Olympic Drive, will close from 5.30am to 10am with managed access when it is safe to do so.

Special event clearway parking restrictions will be in effect from 3am to 10am on key roads in North Sydney and from 6am to 10am in the Sydney CBD – motorists should check signs carefully to avoid being towed.
