Upcoming works across Sydney’s road network

Motorists are advised of changed traffic conditions on the Sydney Harbour Bridge from tonight for maintenance and upgrade works.  

Sydney Harbour Bridge

Up to five lanes on the Sydney Harbour Bridge deck will be closed for maintenance and upgrade works from tonight:

  • Friday 19 May – 11pm to 6am 
  • Sunday 21 May – 10pm to 4.30am 
  • Monday 22 May – 10pm to 4.30am 
  • Tuesday 23 May – 10pm to 4.30am 
  • Wednesday 24 May – 10pm to 4.30am 
  • Thursday 25 May – 10pm to 4.30am 

Motorists can use the Sydney Harbour Tunnel as an alternative route during these times.

The Cahill Expressway will also be closed southbound for essential maintenance work tonight from 11pm to 6am and consecutive nights from Sunday 21 May to Thursday 25 May between 10pm and 4.30am. Please drive carefully and follow the directions of signs and traffic crews.

Anzac Bridge

Lane closures will be in place on the Anzac Bridge in both directions from 11pm tonight. All lanes will be re-opened to traffic by 6am tomorrow, Saturday 20 May.

One eastbound and one westbound lane will remain open during the work. Motorists travelling through the area are advised to expect delays and allow extra travel time. Please use caution and follow the signs.

Gore Hill Freeway

Gore Hill Freeway will be closed in the southbound direction Wednesday 24 May and Thursday 25 May between 10pm-5am for essential maintenance work. Reserve Road southbound on-ramp and Pacific Highway southbound on-ramp will also be closed 10pm-5am. Traffic will be detoured via Pacific Highway, Falcon Street, to Warringah Freeway. Heavy Vehicles are advised to use Lane Cove Road, Victoria Road, Anzac Bridge, Harris Street, Regent St and Cleveland St.

Lane Cove Tunnel

The Lane Cove Tunnel will be closed for essential maintenance work Monday 22 May, Tuesday 23 May, Wednesday 24 May and Thursday 25 May 10pm-5am. Traffic will be detoured via Delhi Road, Epping Road and Longueville Road.

Rail changes across the Sydney network

Sydney Trains passengers travelling on the T3 Bankstown, T4 Eastern Suburbs & Illawarra and T7 Olympic Park lines should plan their trip as buses replace trains on sections of the network as we carry out essential maintenance. 

On the T3 Bankstown line, buses replace trains between:

  • Lidcombe and Central from 11pm Friday 19 May to 2am Monday 22 May 
  • Cabramatta and Lidcombe from 11:30pm Saturday 20 May to 5:30am Sunday 21 May and 11pm Sunday 21 May to 2am Monday 22 May.

On the T7 Olympic Park line, buses replace trains between Olympic Park and Lidcombe most of the weekend, but work will be suspended from 12:30pm to 8pm on Sunday so sports fans can travel to and from events at Sydney Olympic Park.

Buses replace trains between Hurstville and Central on the T4 Eastern Suburbs & Illawarra line from 2am Saturday 20 May to 2am Monday 22 May.
