Have a say on the proposed concept design for the Birchgrove Wharf upgrade.

Transport for NSW today invited the community to have a say on the proposed concept design for the Birchgrove Wharf upgrade.

“Planning is well under way to upgrade Birchgrove Wharf as part of the NSW Government’s Transport Access Program - an initiative to deliver safe, modern and accessible public transport infrastructure across the state,” a Transport for NSW spokesperson said.

“This is an opportunity for the community and customers who use the wharf to have their say on the concept design and discuss how the new and improved wharf will benefit them.

“The existing wharf would be demolished, with the new wharf to include a new floating pontoon and aluminium gangway which will help to make boarding and disembarking from ferries easier, especially for less mobile customers.

The pontoon will also feature a curved roof, new seating and glass weather protection to shelter customers from wind, rain and sun.

“We’ve already received feedback from the community and this concept design has been developed with those comments in mind,” the spokesperson said.

The concept design can be viewed online at the Roads and Maritime Service website while a community information session will be held at Balmain Town Hall on Tuesday 14 March from 5pm to 7pm.

Feedback can be provided by Tuesday 28 March by emailing wharfupgradeprogram@rms.nsw.gov.au or on 1800 770 973.
