Transport for NSW exhibition wins gold at Easter Show

Rita Harding, Executive Director of Marketing and Campaigns at Transport for NSW says that winning the Gold Medal for Best Commercial Exhibitor at the Royal Easter Show proves that highlighting major public initiatives can be both engaging and informative.

“Living in an era of delivering unprecedented levels of infrastructure and service delivery doesn’t mean much unless we take the public along for the ride,” Ms Harding said.

“That’s why I am delighted that our exhibition at this year’s Easter Show has really resonated with visitors.

“Our staff and volunteers really pulled out all the stops this year in highlighting both major projects, such as the Sydney Metro, and ongoing road and maritime safety in a fun and educational way.

“Transport for NSW have won Show Awards in the past, so the bar was already set high, but this year’s effort by almost 120 staff have worked tirelessly for months has really paid off in delivering our best exhibit yet.

“So if you haven’t had the chance to visit the Show yet, drop by the Home, Garden and Lifestyle Hall and get a glimpse of the future of transport for our great city.”

The exhibit covers some of the state’s biggest transport projects, including the CBD and South East Light Rail, NorthConnex, WestConnex, Parramatta Light Rail, Sydney Metro along with the Centre’s for Roads and Maritime Safety and Opal.

The exhibition includes a complete Sydney Metro carriage, which visitors can walk through to get a sense of the trains of the future.

For the kids, there is plenty on offer, from model train cut-outs, daily competitions, ‘tiny tunnels’, dress-ups with hard hats and safety equipment, and an opportunity to meet some of the stars from the Western Sydney Wanderers.

Show-goers are encouraged to avoid traffic by making use of extra train and bus services, running every day of the show. ShowLink tickets, which can be bought at selected Woolworths stores or online at www.eastershow.com.au, cover entry to the show as well as travel on public transport.
