Regional Roads REPAIR Program

The REPAIR Program provides additional funds for high merit projects to supplement block grants.

Funds are available on a dollar for dollar basis for Councils to undertake larger works of rehabilitation, and some development work on Regional Roads in order to minimise the long term maintenance costs commensurate with road function and usage, and where benefits of such projects exceed the cost.

Councils nominate specific projects which are then prioritised on a merit basis up to the available funding allocation through a regionally based council consultative committee in a transparent, peer review process.

The Program is highly decentralised and provides significant flexibility for Local Government to set the prioritisation process and the allocation of funds to different types of work commensurate with each Region’s needs.
