Community engagement
We have been working with the local community for several years on proposed noise mitigation options for the Warringah Freeway, Cammeray. The Amherst Street Noise Wall was identified in late 2018 as part of our preferred strategy for reducing the impact of traffic noise in this area.
Feedback gathered from the community in 2018 and 2019 has been considered during the development of the proposal. Where possible, we have incorporated feedback and suggestions into our design, such as reducing the length and height of the wall, and modifying our construction work schedule so we can build the wall in a shorter time period.
We asked the community to provide feedback on the concept design for the Amherst Street Noise Wall in late 2019. We have prepared a Community Feedback Report (PDF, 994Kb) which outlines the community engagement activities carried out, the valuable comments we received and our responses.
We invited further community feedback on the Amherst Street Noise Wall proposal in August and September 2020.
View the Submissions Report (PDF, 2.29Mb) for information about the feedback received and Transport for NSW's responses.
Thank you to everyone who has taken time to view our plans and provide feedback.
Review of Environmental Factors
We have prepared a Review of Environmental Factors (REF) (PDF, 43.1Mb) for the Amherst Street Noise Wall which assesses the expected impacts of the proposal. Key topics addressed in the REF include:
- Overview of the proposal including the proposed design
- Environmental impacts including biodiversity, soil and contamination, heritage and noise and vibration
