Project information

Background

Appin Road is a busy state road which caters to thousands of vehicles each day, including many trucks carrying freight between Wollongong and Sydney’s south-western suburbs.

This road extends across three Local Government Areas including Campbelltown City Council, Wollondilly Shire Council and Wollongong City Council. Appin Road is predominantly one lane in each direction, with some two lane sections providing overtaking opportunities.

Transport for NSW plans to provide improvements on Appin Road with the three proposed following projects:

Transport has also completed a study to identify a suitable route option for a link road between Appin Road, Gilead and Menangle Road, Menangle Park. The link road would support future housing growth and provide a key connection between Appin Road and Spring Farm Parkway Stage 1 and the Hume Motorway at Menangle Park. Find out more about the Link Road Corridor Study.
