Background

Appin Road upgrade is a project funded and delivered by Lendlease as part of a Voluntary Planning Agreement (VPA).

The project is a road safety upgrade between Rosemeadow and Gilead which includes intersection upgrades, widening part of the road from two to four lanes, and construction of new intersections to provide access to the approved Figtree Hill development.

In addition, two koala underpasses, koala exclusion fencing on both sides of the road, koala grids on driveways and a rope crossing are proposed to provide protection and connectivity for local wildlife.

Features and Benefits

The project includes:

  • Widening part of the road from two to four lanes to help ease congestion
  • Installing safety barriers to improve safety
  • Construction of new intersections to access the new Figtree Hill community project
  • Koala exclusion fencing along the road corridor to stop koalas and other wildlife from crossing the road and to minimise vehicle strikes
  • Koala underpasses at two locations and an arboreal rope crossing to provide fauna connectivity and movement
  • Line marking and signposting.
