Ballina Street bridge, Lismore

The Ballina Street Bridge in Lismore, which was built in 1963, is located on the Bruxner Highway and spans the Wilson River.

In 2015 work started to repaint the bridge to provide safety to road users and pedestrians, prevent possible environmental impacts, and ensure its service life and continued protection from corrosion.

The rehabilitation of the bridge focused on the entire bridge including the trusses, approach spans, light posts and barriers. The work involved the removal of paint by dry grit blasting, and full repainting of the bridge and carried out in three stages:

• Stage 1 (November 2014 until May 2015) – Preliminary work and eastern approach spans
• Stage 2 (May until November 2015) - Lower trusses and western approach spans
• Stage 3 (15 November until June 2016) - Upper trusses.
