Dee Why to Manly via Mona Vale - route 136

Reviewed

Project overview

The NSW Government has funded the Bus Priority Infrastructure Program. The program aims to improve the reliability of bus services on Sydney’s main bus corridors. Transport for NSW has identified some ways to improve the reliability of buses along the Chatswood to Manly bus corridor.

Project information

Changes to bus stops have now been completed

Please note local councils are responsible for the provision of shelters, seats, rubbish bins and footpaths.

For information about the changes to bus stops please contact Transport for NSW on 1300 038 500 or via their website.

Background

These changes support Future Transport Strategy 2056, which is the NSW Government plan to deliver the future transport network. In this plan, a key customer outcome is safety and performance, which seeks to ensure that every customer enjoys safe travel across a high performing and efficient network. It also reflects what our customers tell us about bus services, with travel time and on-time running being some of the most important service features.

Key outcomes

Key outcomes with the bus stop changes include:

  • improving safety for bus operations
  • making travel times more reliable for customers
  • contributing to the NSW Government’s target of 95 per cent on-time running of bus services.

Bus stop changes

From Monday 3 September 2018 as part of this program, Transport for NSW and Roads and Maritime completed the following changes to bus stops at:

Warringah Road near Melwood Avenue, Forestville (PDF, 440Kb)

Following feedback from local bus customers and further consideration of technical issues the decision has been made to retain the bus stops (TSN 208753 and TSN 208736) in their current location, at this time.

Adams Street near Travers Road, Curl Curl (PDF, 419Kb)

These stops are serviced by routes 136, 139 and E65.

The bus stops at Adams Street near Travers Road will be removed. This change reflects low customer usage of the bus stop and the availability of alternate bus stops within a reasonable walking distance, near Park Street or after Lalchere Street.

The works associated with the bus stop changes, included:

  • removal of the bus stops number 209637 and 209662
  • replacement of bus zones with no stopping zones.

What happens next?

The bus stops removals were completed on 3 September 2018.

Works by council to remove the bus stop seat at the Adams Street near Travers Road bus are expected to be completed by mid-December 2018.
