Heathcote Road emergency works

The westbound lane on Heathcote Road, between New Illawarra Road and Princes Highway, is now open. The lane was closed due to rock and soil slippage, causing cracking in the road pavement.

The slippage was caused by the extreme wet weather and is replicated elsewhere on the Sydney road network. These sites can be dangerous when wet weather and changes in ground conditions continue.

The closure was to ensure the safety of motorists and workers who were trying to assess the damage and plan for repair of the site. Our priority was to mitigate risk to the community.
