Project overview

Transport for NSW is investigating a project to upgrade an irrigation bridge and four intersections on the Kidman Way south of Griffith.

Project information

What we’re proposing

The Kidman Way bridge over Benerembah Channel is in poor condition and needs upgrading to ensure it remains serviceable to the public. Initial investigations propose upgrading the bridge to include wider lanes than what is there currently, and improved visibility for transport customers.

During these early stages of investigations, we identified road safety and efficiency improvements could be included as part of this project.

These improvements include adding turning lanes and realigning the road for better turning pathways for heavy vehicles.

Maintenance work

Essential maintenance work was carried out on the Kidman Way bridge over Benerembah Channel in mid-2023.

Work included repairs to the bridge’s support beams to ensure the crossing remains safe and continues to service the community while we continue to plan for a replacement bridge.

What happens next?

We will share more information and start dates with the community when available. Work is expected to take about 18 months to complete.
