Project information

Background

The large capacity ferry is the main crossing ferry and has a safe load limit of 135 tonnes and carries 24 cars each trip. The ferry operates 24 hours, seven days a week.

The smaller capacity ferry takes 18 cars with safe load of 90 tonnes and is used when the larger capacity ferry is being serviced.

Transport for NSW conducted a trial second ferry service during peak periods at Lawrence during April 2019, in response to community concerns about lengthy delays.

Following an assessment of the trial a decision has been made to continue the second ferry service during peak periods.

Two ferries will continue to operate at the same time between the hours of 7.30am to 9.30am, and 4pm to 6pm Monday to Friday, including school holidays.

Thank you to those customers who took part in the online survey during the trial. The information gathered will help us improve the ferry service.
