Oxley Highway
Project overview
The Oxley Highway stretches 514 kilometres, starting on the mid north coast of NSW at Port Macquarie and extending west to connect with the inland centres of Tamworth, Gunnedah, Coonabarabran, Gilgandra and Warren.
It links the Pacific Highway to the New England Highway near Bendemeer, and the Newell Highway near Coonabarabran.

Project information
Improving the Oxley Highway
The NSW Government is funding the delivery of vital road improvements along the Oxley Highway. This important work stems from the Oxley Highway Route Safety Review and the Oxley Highway corridor strategy.
The Route Safety Review report was carried out by the NSW Centre for Road Safety and Roads and Maritime, examining the Oxley Highway from the Pacific Highway west of Port Macquarie to the Mitchell Highway at Nevertire.
A number of safety improvements have been completed as part of the NSW Government’s $10 million commitment to implement recommendations in the route safety review. These improvements have focused on intersections and bridge approach barriers.
The corridor strategy was developed by a team from Transport NSW and Roads and Maritime. The strategy sets out the NSW Government's 20-year plan to manage and guide the development of the road corridor to improve safety, traffic efficiency and sustainability.
Projects have already been delivered and a number are in development as part of the NSW Government's $50 million response to the corridor strategy to improve the Oxley Highway for locals, tourists and freight operators, with some work already in planning and delivery.
