Project overview

Freight and servicing plays a major part in keeping the city open for business and we are investigating new and more efficient ways for these activities to continue to support the CBD now and into the future.

Key benefits

  • Keeping the city open for business
  • Investigating new and more efficient ways for these activities to continue to support the CBD now and into the future.

The delivery of goods and services is vital to keeping the city open for business. We are investigating new and more efficient ways of conducting these activities during major infrastructure construction in the CBD as well as looking towards how the city will operate in the future.

Through our work, Transport for NSW aims to:

  • Champion more efficient goods and servicing practices both for today and into the future
  • Maximise utilisation of available kerbside space
  • Consider approaches to maintaining business activity in a rapidly changing city.

Transport for NSW is working with Sydney goods and service operators as well as CBD businesses to provide consistent, accurate and timely information on the changing city environment as the city undergoes transformation.

Transport and kerbside changes occurring in the CBD are mostly permanent. For example, George Street between Town Hall and Wynyard stations will become a pedestrianised zone that will require a new approach to servicing.

Goods and services operators and their customers need to consider how the changes in access and transport in the CBD will affect them. Many businesses are already innovating and adapting

More information about how to navigate the changing CBD transport network is available on the Tomorrow’s Sydney website.
