Kingsway and Woolooware Road, Woolooware

Roads and Maritime Services has installed new traffic lights at the intersection of Kingsway and Woolooware Road, Woolooware. This includes signalised pedestrian crossings on all approaches to the intersection. This builds on intersection improvements undertaken in 2018.

Installation of the new traffic lights began on August 25 and was completed by November 11, 2019. More information is available in the November 2019 end of work community notification.

In December 2018, Roads and Maritime Services completed improvements to the intersection at Kingsway and Woolooware Road.

By extending this right turn bay by about 60 metres, more vehicles can now turn right into Woolooware Road, helping reduce travel time on Kingsway towards Cronulla.

Roads and Maritime started work on improving the intersection in May 2018. Thanks to good planning and support from the community and motorists, we were able to complete the project in June 2018, 10 weeks ahead of schedule.

The completed work includes:

• Extending the existing right turn lane on Kingsway into Woolooware Road by about 60 metres
• Replacing the road surface
• Rebuilding the existing median.

• Helping to keep traffic flowing on Kingsway
• Reducing travel times and providing a more reliable journey for road users
• Reducing congestion and improving traffic flow at the intersections by allowing more vehicles to queue in the upgraded turning bays.
