Suburban Bus Routes 471, 477, 478

Reviewed

Project overview

The NSW Government has funded the Gateway to the South bus improvements program to improve reliability of bus services on southern Sydney’s main bus corridors.

Project information

Background

We are removing and relocating bus stops for bus reliability and on-time running along the Miranda to Bondi Junction route (via Airport).

Transport for NSW in consultation with bus operators and local councils will be making changes to bus stops on Taren Point Road from Caringbah to Taren Point, and on Rocky Point Road  from Sans Souci to Ramsgate. We will do this by removing and relocating bus stops to improve on-time running, as well as implementing accessibility upgrades to bus stops that comply with disability standards for accessible public transport as per the Disability Discrimination Act 1992.

Making adjustments to the number of bus stops along a bus corridor also helps improve bus travel times. Each bus stop location is considered with a focus on the safety of bus customers and motorists.

We are proposing changes to some bus stops in Miranda, Caringbah, Taren Point, Sans Souci and Ramsgate, in consultation with bus operators and local council.

Project update

Transport engaged with the local community between February and March 2021 about these changes, working to improve bus reliability and on-time running in Caringbah, Taren Point, Sans Souci and Ramsgate. The finalised bus stop changes reach a balance between maintaining reasonable walking distance to bus stops and an efficient bus stop network.

Transport finalised the bus stop changes as a result of community feedback. View our consultation report (PDF, 2.65Mb).

What happens next?

We are removing and relocating bus stops on 21 March. Key bus services on this route are 476, 477 and 478.
