Surveyor in Training
Transport for NSW offers a program for those interested in a career in Surveying.

The Surveyor in Training program is an important three-year program that seeks to provide training and employment pathways for young talent in the surveying field.
This program is available to school leaving or mature candidates interested in a career in Surveying while simultaneously completing online, Certificate III, Certificate IV and Diploma in Surveying.
About the Surveyor in Training Program
The Surveyor in Training Program offers on-the-job surveying experience coupled with academic study. The participants, while working full time, complete Certificate III and Certificate IV and Diploma in Surveying.

Eligibility
To apply for the program, you must have:
- HSC completion (Year 12) or equivalent
- good level of proficiency in English and Mathematics
- eligibility to meet the requirements to enrol in the Certificate III, Certificate IV and Diploma in Surveying.
When considering applications, we look for:
- ability to maintain study-work-life balance while working night shifts and overtime
- Have interest, knowledge and understanding of surveying procedures.
- good knowledge or be able to learn and use new relevant software applications
- high School level proficiency in English, Mathematics and Science
- be eligible to enroll with TAFE Albury to complete Cert III, IV and Diploma in Surveying within three years
- be ready to complete physical work in the field outside regular working hours including weekend and night work, in all types of weather conditions. (Frequent intrastate travel may be required for regionally based roles)
- assist in the process of data collection, analysis and presentation through field surveys.
- comply with the Transport for NSW WHS and environmental policies.
- complete relevant training and follow Surveying discipline procedures
- support Survey Team by maintaining survey equipment and vehicles to agreed standards.
- develop knowledge in specialized instrument calibration techniques.
- champion Surveying as a critical activity in the delivery of Transport for NSW projects.
- assist Survey Party Leaders to ensure that relevant, timely and accurate advice is provided to the survey team.
