Background
Transport for NSW is reviewing the transport network within Braidwood and Bungendore to guide transport planning into the future.
The transport study will focus on key areas such as safety, congestion, holiday traffic, active transport, public transport and accessing public spaces. It is designed to evaluate infrastructure and service planning from now and into the future.
It will help identify a range of actions that Transport for NSW and Queanbeyan-Palerang Regional Council can implement to improve transport within Braidwood and Bungendore, and better manage the holiday traffic associated with public holidays.

Community information
Community consultation
Consultation with the community is an important part of this project. It will help us understand community values and concerns around transport issues in and around Braidwood and Bungendore.
Once we understand how people are feeling, we can work towards improving some of the current transport related challenges.
Community consultation was carried out from Thursday 11 May to Friday 2 June 2023. Feedback received from the community, stakeholders, visitors, and transport users will help inform future planning.

What is the project about?
We are investigating improvements to the transport network in and around Braidwood and Bungendore. This forms part of our long-term commitment to provide safe, efficient and reliable journeys on the Kings Highway while maintaining the character and amenity in the town centres.
What is the study area?
The study areas include Braidwood and Bungendore as indicated on the interactive mapping tool.
What is the focus of the investigation?
We are investigating key constraints and issues experienced when travelling in and around Braidwood and Bungendore. These include road safety, holiday traffic, active transport connectivity, traffic queuing, delays in peak periods, public transport availability and the future transport needs of the community. This investigation aims to identify options to:
- reduce travel times
- Improve holiday traffic management
- improve road safety
- improve pedestrian and cyclist connectivity
- maintain amenity of the town centre
- guide transport planning decisions.
Could improvements to public transport assist in reducing congestion?
Feedback and suggestions about changes or improvements to public transport will be considered as part of the consultation. Feedback will help inform future transport solutions.
How will Transport consider improvements to connections for cyclists and pedestrians?
We will work closely with Queanbeyan-Palerang Council to consider opportunities to encourage walking and cycling in the area to help reduce the demand for car trips.
What happens next?
We will work closely with Council to develop plans to improve the general accessibility and connectivity of the transport network within Braidwood and Bungendore.
