Definitions

The data is provided by Mari Trade. MariTrade’s database draws on Australia’s international trade statistics to extract meaningful sea freight statistics for the use of those interested in international transport. The source data is collected by the Australian Customs Service (ACS) from importers and exporters, filtered by the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) and the raw data is then loaded each month into MariTrade’s database.

Limitations

MariTrade’s databases are based on imports and exports gathered by Customs and may differ from those published by NSW Ports on their online trade reports.

Data is reported by MariTrade to Transport for NSW and will be two months behind due to volume of data collection and processing by ABS.
