Become a TAO

Recognition as a TAO is gained following an evidence based assessment which, if successful, results in an entity achieving the status of a Technically Assured Organisation (TAO).

The assessment:

  • evaluates the systems and processes that support the engineering and asset services that an entity is seeking to deliver
  • evaluates evidence and relevant experience in the provision of self-assured engineering and asset services

The TAO assessment consists of six steps:

  1. initial engagement
  2. preparation for stage 1
  3. stage 1 assessment
  4. preparation for stage 2
  5. stage 2 assessment
  6. assessment finalisation

The TAO assessment process has recently been updated for all details related to that transition, please refer to the FAQ (PDF, 363.97 KB)

The assessment process details are explained in TS 06197.2 TAO Authorisation Scheme available on the Technically Assured Organisation Scheme page.
