The Asset AI® project is led by Transport for NSW (TfNSW) in partnership with IPWEA Roads and Transport Directorate and Canterbury-Bankstown Council.

Asset AI® is a trial that has the potential to be a local council resource to assist all levels of government to have an overview of the condition of roads in near real time and streamline road maintenance tasks.  

By bringing together asset and pavement defect information from across New South Wales it is anticipated Asset AI® will learn to recognise the triggers for road asset defects and schedule preventative maintenance work before there is a risk to the community.

The Australian-first trial is the first time this technology has been attempted to be rolled out on such a large, state-wide scale.
