57-hour closure of Elizabeth Drive at Badgerys Creek

Published
Motorists are advised of changed traffic conditions next week on Elizabeth Drive at Badgerys Creek to enable the installation of a new water main to serve the growing needs of western Sydney.

Elizabeth Drive will be closed between Badgerys Creek Road and Devonshire Road for a 57-hour period to install the water main.

The water main is being built to serve future expansion around Western Sydney Airport including the Aerotropolis.

As part of a 1.6 kilometre pipeline, the work to extend the pipeline under Elizabeth Drive will help deliver 35 Olympic-sized swimming pools of water into the precinct every day.

The work will take place from 8pm Friday 21 October to 5am Monday 24 October 2022 as part of early works for the new M12 Motorway.

During this closure, motorists will be detoured via The Northern Road, M4 Motorway and Mamre Road to the north and; Badgerys Creek and Bringelly Road, King Street and Devonshire Road to the south.

Temporary lane closures, traffic control and reduced speed limits will be in place for the safety of workers and road users.

Motorists are advised to drive to the conditions and follow the direction of signs and traffic control.

During this closure Transport for NSW will extend the 60 kilometres per hour speed limit zone for a further one kilometre along Elizabeth Drive from Clifton Avenue until 400 metres west of Western Road, Kemps Creek.

From Monday 24 October 2022, the new speed limit will take effect. The speed reduction is in response to increased traffic volumes and concerns from the Kemps Creek community.

Transport for NSW thanks the community for their patience during this time.
