Advice for passengers and road users across Sydney this weekend
Motorists and passengers are advised of changed traffic and travel conditions across Greater Sydney due to maintenance, project works and major events.
Sydney Harbour Bridge
Up to five lanes on the Sydney Harbour Bridge deck will close for maintenance and upgrade works from tonight:
- Friday 7 February: 9.30pm – 6am (five lanes)
- Saturday 8 February: 9.30pm – 6am (four lanes)
- Sunday 9 February: 9pm – 5am (five lanes)
- Monday 10 February: 9pm – 5am (five lanes)
- Tuesday 11 February: 9pm – 5am (four lanes)
- Wednesday 12 February: 9pm – 5am (five lanes)
- Thursday 13 February: 9.30pm – 5am (five lanes)
Motorists can use other lanes on the Sydney Harbour Bridge or drive through the Sydney Harbour Tunnel as an alternative route, noting the tunnel closures below.
Sydney Harbour Tunnel
Motorists are advised that the Sydney Harbour Tunnel will be partially or fully closed at certain times over the next week.
- Friday 7 February: 10.30pm - 6am (one northbound lane)
- Saturday 8 February: 11.30pm – 6am (both northbound lanes)
- Tuesday 11 February: 10.30pm – 5am (both northbound lanes)
- Wednesday 12 February: 10pm – 5am (one northbound lane)
Domain Tunnel
Motorists are advised that the Domain Tunnel will be partially closed for maintenance on Tuesday 11 February from 10.30pm – 5am (both northbound lanes).
Eastern Distributor
Motorists are advised that the Eastern Distributor will be closed in both directions between the Cahill Expressway and Link Rd on Tuesday 11 February, Wednesday 12 February and Thursday 13 February at the following times:
- Northbound: 10.30pm – 5am
- Southbound: 11pm – 5am
Diversions will be in place via South Dowling Street, Flinders Street, Oxford Street, College Street and Macquarie Street for northbound drivers and in reverse sequence for southbound drivers.
Warringah Freeway Upgrade
Motorists are advised of changed traffic conditions on the Warringah Freeway this weekend. Multiple temporary lane and ramp closures will be in place. Traffic changes include:
- Ernest Street (west) on and off ramp closed until mid-February. Use northbound off ramps at Falcon Street (eastern) and Miller Street instead. Use southbound on ramp on eastern side of the Ernest Street bridge.
- The right turn from Ernest Street eastbound to the southbound Warringah Freeway on ramp will be closed from 5pm Saturday 8 February to 5pm Sunday 9 February. Detour via Miller Street or Falcon Street southbound on ramps. The left turn from Ernest Street westbound to the Ernest Street eastern on ramp will remain open during this time.

Essential Trackwork
- T1 North Shore Line – Buses replace trains between Berowra and Gordon.
- T4 Eastern Suburbs & Illawarra Line - Buses replace trains between Waterfall and Sutherland from 4am to 11.30am on Saturday 8 February.
- T9 Northern Line – Buses replace trains between Hornsby and Strathfield.
- Blue Mountains Line – Buses replace trains between Lithgow and Katoomba from 9.20am to 4.30pm on Sunday 9 February.
- Central Coast & Newcastle Line – Buses replace trains between Newcastle Interchange and Gordon.
- Hunter Line – Buses replace trains between Scone, Dungog and Newcastle Interchange.
- Southern Highlands Line – On Saturday from 4.40am to 4.50pm, buses replace trains between Goulburn, Moss Vale and Campbelltown.
- South Coast Line – Buses replace trains between Dapto, Port Kembla and Sutherland from 3am to 11am Saturday 8 February. Buses replace trains between Bomaderry and Wollongong from 2.30am to 9.50am Sunday 9 February.
Trains may run to a changed timetable and stopping pattern. Passengers are encouraged to allow extra time and plan ahead by visiting transportnsw.info/alerts or using trip planning apps.
Metro
Each night from 9.50pm on Monday 10 February, Tuesday 11 February and Wednesday 12 February, there will be no services between Macquarie Park and Victoria Cross, with buses replacing trains between Macquarie University and Victoria Cross. Metro services will operate between Tallawong and Macquarie Park, and between Victoria Cross and Sydenham.
Major Events
Laneway Festival: More than 40,000 people are expected at the Laneway Festival in Centennial Park this Sunday 9 February from 11.30am – 10pm. Attendees are urged to plan ahead and catch public transport as travel is included in festival tickets. Extra light rail services and buses will run before and after the event. Fans getting dropped off or picked up should use the designated areas, and allow plenty of extra travel time as heavy traffic is expected. Road closures will be in place between 8pm and midnight on sections of Lang Road and Moore Park Road to allow crowds to leave the park safely. Motorists should follow detours and expect delays. A-League Men: 30,000 fans are expected at the Sydney Derby clash to see Sydney FC take on Western Sydney Wanderers at Allianz Stadium in Moore Park, kicking off at 7.35pm on Saturday 8 February. Fans are urged to catch public transport with travel included in match tickets and extra light rail services running before and after the game. Traffic is expected to be heavy and parking will be in high demand, so fans that need to drive should plan to arrive early and expect delays. Click here for more information.
SailGP Sydney: The annual Sail Grand Prix returns to Sydney Harbour on Saturday 8 and Sunday 9 February around Shark Island. Spectators are encouraged to plan their trip and consider all the available travel options ahead of time. F1 Manly, F7 Double Bay and F9 Watsons Bay ferries will run to a changed timetable and may experience delays between 12pm – 3pm on Friday 7 February (official practice day), and 2pm – 6pm approximately on both Saturday 8 and Sunday 9 February (race days) while exclusion zones and speed reductions are in effect.
