Better bus services in Sydney’s Hills District, Northwest and Southeast

Published

Changes are coming to some bus services in Sydney’s Hills District, Northwest, and Southeast to give passengers better connections to public transport, improve reliability and meet demand.

From Monday, 3 March, passengers will see minor timetable and route adjustments, including more buses on busy routes, adjustments to school trips, and other tweaks to make services more reliable.

In the Hills region, changes will make it easier for passengers to access Metro stations, while changes in Sydney’s North and South East are designed to better meet service demand.

In Sydney’s South East, passengers can also take advantage of the new trial bus route 393 that will operate between Matraville and Westfield Eastgardens, providing direct access for more passengers to this busy shopping precinct.

More 392X and 394x bus services will also commence from Little Bay and Malabar during the morning peak to improve reliability and capacity, whilst all route 309 trips will now operate the full length of the route to Port Botany.

In the Hills District, the current route 600 will be split to operate from Parramatta to Pennant Hills, and the new route 590 will operate between Pennant Hills to Hornsby.

Routes including 605, 610x and 611 will receive extra services to meet demand, while some bus services with low patronage will be reduced.

This builds on extra services that commenced in January on a number of routes to better connect passengers to Metro stations.

With the new Parramatta Light Rail now operating, route 712 between Parramatta and Westmead’s Children’s Hospital, will be removed. Passengers can continue catching route 711, or light rail from the dedicated Children’s Hospital stop.

Parents and carers should also check the best way for their children to get to school, with changes to some bus routes servicing schools in Sydney’s Northwest and Hills District.

Transport and our bus operators are working closely with schools affected by these changes to ensure students and their communities are informed and prepared.
