Changed traffic conditions around the Sydney Harbour Bridge

Motorists are advised of changed traffic conditions on the Sydney Harbour Bridge this week for maintenance and Warringah Freeway upgrade works.

Up to four general traffic lanes on the Sydney Harbour Bridge deck will be closed for maintenance and upgrade works with closures as below.

Motorists can use the Sydney Harbour Tunnel as a detour during these times.

On Sunday April 30 the Sydney Harbour Tunnel will be closed Southbound from 10.30pm to 12.30am for maintenance works. Motorists can use the Sydney Harbour Bridge during these times.

The Cahill Expressway will also be closed northbound for essential maintenance work between Macquarie Street and Bradfield Highway from Monday 1 May to Thursday 4 May between 10pm and 4.30am. Motorists can access the Bradfield Highway using the Sydney Harbour Tunnel, or Macquarie St, Bridge St and Grosvenor St. Please drive carefully and follow the directions of signs and traffic crews.

Other changes across the Sydney transport network:

Motorists are advised Burwood Road, Burwood, will be closed to traffic between Railway Parade and Victoria Street from 7pm Friday 28 April to 4.30am Monday 1 May for works on the railway bridge. This will not impact train services at Burwood.

There will be nightly closures on Qantas Drive, Mascot near the Sydney Airport domestic terminal from 2 May as part of the Sydney Gateway project. Eastbound lanes on Qantas Drive will be closed between Robey Street and O’Riordan Street on 2, 3, 6, 9 and 10 May from 10pm to 4:30am. There is a short diversion available for eastbound motorists, via Robey Street and O’Riordan Street. There will be other lane closures in place and speed reductions approaching the work zone with traffic controllers on site to direct motorists.

Customers travelling on the rail network should plan their trip in advance as Sydney Trains carries out essential maintenance work this weekend.

Buses will replace trains on the T3 Bankstown line between Lidcombe and Bankstown from 10pm Friday 28 April to 2am on Monday 1 May. In addition, on the T2 Inner West & Leppington line, buses will replace the all-stations Homebush trains between Strathfield and Central.

On the T4 Eastern Suburbs & Illawarra line, buses will replace trains between Central and Bondi Junction from 2am on Saturday 29 April to Monday 1 May.

Frequent bus services will replace trains over the 4 days with additional buses during peak times. Customers are advised to always plan their travel by checking transportnsw.info for the latest updates.
