Changed traffic conditions around the Sydney Harbour Bridge and Anzac Bridge

Motorists are advised of changed traffic conditions on the Sydney Harbour Bridge and Anzac Bridge from tonight for maintenance and Warringah Freeway upgrade works.

Up to three lanes on the Sydney Harbour Bridge deck will be closed for maintenance and upgrade works with closures as below:

Motorists can use the Sydney Harbour Tunnel as a detour on Friday, Saturday and Sunday during these times. On 8 and 9 May, one lane only will be closed on the Sydney Harbour Bridge.

The Sydney Harbour Tunnel will be closed southbound only on Thursday between10:30pm to 5:00pm. On 8,9,10 May the Sydney Harbour Tunnel will be closed southbound between 10.30pm and 5am; and northbound between 11.30pm and 5am for maintenance works. Motorists can use the Sydney Harbour Bridge during these times.

The Cahill Expressway will also be closed southbound for essential maintenance work on Sunday 7 May between 10pm and 4:30am. Please drive carefully and follow the directions of signs and traffic crews.

Motorists are reminded there will be no access from Warringah Freeway southbound off-ramp to Alfred St North northbound. This is a permanent change from Thursday 4 May as part of the Warringah Freeway Upgrade. Motorists are advised to follow local detour signs.     

Works on the Anzac Bridge

Lane closures will be progressively introduced on the Anzac Bridge, both directions, from 10pm tonight, Friday 5 May, with a full closure of the bridge implemented between 1am and 5:30am, all lanes will be gradually reopened to traffic by 7am.

During the full closure, buses and motorists travelling westbound approaching the bridge will be diverted at Bridge Road and can use Ross Street, Minogue Street and The Crescent instead.

Those travelling Eastbound can use City West Link, The Crescent, Ross Street and Parramatta Road. Heavy vehicles should use Parramatta Road.

Other changes across the Sydney transport network

Passengers on the rail network should plan their trip in advance this weekend as Sydney Trains carries out essential maintenance work.  

From 2am Saturday 6 May to 2am Monday 8 May, buses replace trains between Hornsby and Wynyard on the T1 North Shore line, and between Cabramatta or Lidcombe and Sydenham on the T3 Bankstown line.
