The Harrington Road and Coopernook Road interchange is a step closer with the community consultation report now on display.

A Transport for NSW spokesperson said the Australian Government had committed $48 million to the $60 million project, which is jointly funded by the New South Wales Government, to deliver an interchange at Harrington Road and Coopernook Road on the Pacific Highway.

“The upgrade will create a safer connection between the towns of Harrington and Coopernook with better traffic flows, reduced congestion and improved travel times for the approximately 5000 motorists who use this intersection each day,” the spokesperson said.

“Transport for NSW has published the community consultation report for the Harrington Road interchange.

“Transport for NSW invited the community to have its say about the proposal in October 2022.

“The Have Your Say resulted in a total of 30 submissions from the community, local elected representatives, and community organisations.

“Out of the 30 submissions received during the four-week consultation period, there was considerable support for the proposal.

“Feedback included comments about project design for acceleration and deceleration lanes, roundabouts, requests for safe cycleways and pedestrian pathways and for parking bays.”

The spokesperson said that on completion, the project would deliver a grade separated interchange with an overhead bridge, new roundabouts on Coopernook Media contact: (02) 8265 6555 Road and Harrington Road, footpaths connecting to the local road network and a median safety barrier on the Pacific Highway.

“As part of the duplication of the Pacific Highway completed in 2021, designs were prepared for a future interchange at Harrington and Coopernook in order to carry out early construction of an embankment,” the spokesperson said.

“Transport for NSW will continue to develop the project and progress with the environmental approval and detailed design.

“We will continue to keep the community informed as the project progresses.”
