Community feedback shared on Argyle Street improvements

Parking impacts, pedestrian safety and traffic flow were the key themes in feedback received as part of consultation on proposed improvements for Argyle Street at Moss Vale.

Transport for NSW is planning improvements at key intersections at Moss Vale, including the addition of designated right turn bays, new pedestrian crossings and restricted right turns from and into Argyle Street.

Transport for NSW Regional Director South, Cassandra Ffrench, said Transport sought feedback in late-2023 for the proposed improvements to traffic and pedestrian safety, to make journeys through the town safer and more efficient.

“We have reviewed and considered the feedback from the consultation where we received 125 responses in the form of surveys, submissions and emails from the community,” Ms Ffrench said.

“Key themes from this feedback include concerns about impacts to local business as a result of reduced parking, pedestrian safety with the removal of the pedestrian crossing, and traffic flow on the local road network.

“As a result, we are now investigating possible changes to the proposal, including adding a pedestrian refuge on Arthur Street, and implementing turning movement changes on a timed basis.

“This feedback will be used to help inform the project’s development and detailed design phase.

“Transport will keep the community informed and continue to engage with local stakeholders as we progress through the design phase of the improvements.”
