Community shares vision for Mona Vale Road upgrade
Member for Pittwater Rob Stokes today welcomed the release of the latest community consultation report on the proposed upgrade of Mona Vale Road.
In October last year the NSW Roads and Maritime Services finalised 3 design options for the proposed construction of a four-lane dual carriageway between Powderworks Road at Ingleside and McCarrs Creek Road at Terrey Hills.
The development of the 3 options followed the completion of detailed geotechnical, heritage and environmental assessments and consultation with residents, local councils, Aboriginal heritage groups and the National Parks and Wildlife Service.
"This is another important step in the detailed assessment process necessary for a project of this scale to proceed," Rob Stokes said today.
"The importance of Mona Vale Road and the sensitivity of the area through which it travels means there's a complexity of issues to be considered.
"The RMS has now prepared a consultation summary report on issues raised by the community including flora and fauna conservation, safety, improved travel movements and respect for existing boundaries.
"The report is available by visiting www.rms.nsw.gov.au/roadprojects or a hard copy can be ordered by calling the RMS project team on 1800 633 332 or emailing monavaleroad@rms.nsw.gov.au.
"All feedback will now be closely considered prior to the release of a preferred design option in the second half of this year," Rob Stokes said.
