Essential City Circle upgrades continue this weekend

Published

Passengers travelling on the City Circle, T1 North Shore and T2 Inner West lines are urged to plan ahead as essential Rail Repair Plan (PDF, 109.31 KB) trackwork continues this weekend, 2-3 December, to increase reliability and resilience across the network.

On Saturday and Sunday, trains will not run on the City Circle or between Central and Wynyard. Passengers are able to use the light rail which runs between Circular Quay, Wynyard and Central, with extra services provided. Local buses are also available.

Work impacting the City Circle this weekend involves essential track circuit upgrades to the city’s underground network to improve efficiency and maintain safety.

On the T1 buses will replace trains between Gordon and Wynyard from 10.50pm Friday to 2am Saturday, then throughout the weekend between Hornsby and Wynyard.

On Saturday and Sunday buses will replace trains between Strathfield and Central on the T2. Express trains continue to run.

Sydney Trains will have around 892 workers undertaking a significant amount of work to remove around 63 high-priority defects.

This trackwork also affects other lines. Some trains may run to changed stopping pattern and timetable. Passengers may need to change trains and are encouraged to allow extra travel time and plan ahead by visiting transportnsw.info or using trip planning apps.

Sydney Trains thanks our passengers for their patience as we work to build a more resilient and reliable network.

Metro Work

On Saturday and Sunday buses will replace trains on the Metro North West Line between Tallawong and Chatswood.

Intercity Services
