Ferry customers urged to plan ahead on Tuesday

Ferry customers are urged to plan ahead on Tuesday (13 December 2022) while the employees of Sydney Ferries operator Transdev stop work for four hours to vote on a new enterprise agreement.

Sydney Ferry services will stop between approximately 10am and 2pm on Tuesday while employees vote on the Maritime Enterprise Agreement (EA) 2022.

Transport for NSW Chief Operations Officer Howard Collins said the EA vote, which needs to take place in person, was planned for the least busy time of the day for ferry services.

“Ferry customers are urged to plan ahead and seek alternative transport during 10am and 2pm on Tuesday. Customers travelling between Manly and Circular Quay may also wish to consider using Manly Fast Ferry services,” Mr Collins said.

“We expect no impact on morning and afternoon peak hour ferry services and normal ferry services will resume from 2pm to meet peak hour demand.”

Transdev Sydney Ferries General Manager Operations Jarrod Graham said after more than 10 months of negotiations involving many meetings, Transdev and the unions have reached an agreement in principle.

“Employees will be meeting with their union representatives on Tuesday to discuss the proposed EA and cast their vote as to whether to accept the new conditions,” Mr Graham said.

“The proposed EA is a four-year term agreement with the Maritime Unions. We are confident it will further strengthen our relationship with our people, trade union colleagues and bring positive results for customers, Sydney Ferries and Transport for NSW.”

“Transdev apologises for any inconvenience on Tuesday and customers are advised to plan ahead.”
