Have your say on improving connectivity to the M1 Princes Motorway at Dapto

The NSW Government is delivering on its election promise to plan for new south-facing entry and exit ramps to the M1 Princes Motorway at Dapto, with the community today invited to provide their feedback.

The M1 Princes Motorway is a critical link between Sydney, the Illawarra Region, and NSW South Coast, providing vital connections for commuters, freight and recreation.

Early planning work will include strategic modelling of the broader road network to understand the interface between any new south facing ramps and a potential future interchange at Yallah, including what impact this would have on the performance of the M1 Princes Motorway.

Feedback is open from Monday 11 December until Monday 12 February and can be provided by taking an online survey at www.haveyoursay.nsw.gov.au/dapto-ramps or by emailing southprojects@transport.nsw.gov.au

Anna Watson MP said:

“We committed $10 million to plan for new south-facing ramps to improve safety, efficiency and connectivity in and around Dapto.

“Transport for NSW wants to hear feedback from the community on how they want to access the motorway from Dapto and surrounding suburbs.

“We are looking at new south facing ramps at locations including Kanahooka, Fowlers or Emerson roads, which will reduce the travel distance and time for motorists who are travelling either to or from the south of Dapto.

“This feedback will help us determine, alongside other data, which option is the best fit for the community.

“The Illawarra-Shoalhaven population is expected to grow by around 100,000 extra people by 2041, increasing the total population of the region to around 505,000 people.

“This growth will deliver new homes, jobs and services, and influence travel behaviours and demands on the transport network.

“After feedback is received, Transport for NSW will then carry out detailed planning work to confirm the preferred location of the additional ramps and determine the impacts on the local road and motorway network.”
