Improved signage at Victoria Bridge, Picton

Published

Historic Victoria bridge at Picton will be given improved size and load restriction signage to better inform motorists attempting to cross the structure.

An historically important structure across Stonequarry Creek, Victoria Bridge is a 19th century example of engineering built in an era when the horse and cart was the prime source of transport and bi-directional traffic and larger vehicles were not a necessary consideration.

Keeping the bridge viable in the 21st century means there are necessary size and weight restrictions to keep both motorists and the structure itself safe.

As such, size and weight signs on the bridge approaches will become clearer to improve prior warning for vehicles wishing to cross. To be installed on the northern and southern approaches to Prince Street on Menangle Street, the improved signage will specifically identify Prince Street as having restrictions.

Community feedback provided to Transport for NSW initiated the improved signage which will be installed prior to 1st April 2025.
