L1 LIGHT RAIL TRACKWORK 19-24 NOVEMBER

Published

Customers are advised to plan ahead with L1 light rail services disrupted from 6am Saturday 19 November to 11pm Thursday 24 November.

Transport for NSW Chief Operations Officer, Howard Collins said the disruption on the Inner West Light Rail line is due to essential maintenance works, including track replacement.

“There will also be major refurbishment works on the light rail underbridge at Eddy Avenue, which will take place across several stages to reduce disruption.”

“During this stage, we will be carrying out maintenance on the bridge structure, including a new paint job, while also putting in traffic control and pedestrian safety measures,” Mr Collins said.

“The next stage of upgrade works is planned for April next year, with the final stage of works carried out in June, weather permitting.”

No L1 services will run this weekend from 6am Saturday 19 November to 11pm Sunday 20 November. Buses will replace all L1 services between Central Grand Concourse and Dulwich Hill during this time.

L1 services will also be impacted the following week.
From 6am Monday 21 to 11pm Thursday 24 November, L1 replacement bus services will run partially between Central Grand Concourse and The Star via Convention.

L1 light rail services will run between Convention and Dulwich Hill as per normal frequency.

Mr Collins said there will also be some road closures from 3am Saturday 19 November to 3am Friday 25 November. This will affect Hay St between Elizabeth St and Pitt St, as well as Railway Colonnade Dr between Lee St and Hay St.

“Eddy Avenue will remain open in both directions whilst the works are completed.”

“Buses will operate as normal along Eddy Avenue but will divert around Hay Street.”

"Traffic controllers will be on site to assist pedestrians and monitor traffic flow throughout the works and we thank commuters for their cooperation” Mr Collins said.
