Motorists advised to slow down in Peak Hill

New speed limits are being applied to sections of Coradgery Road in the state’s Central West, to improve safety for all road users.

Transport for NSW Director West Alistair Lunn said the changes will take effect for three kilometres of road following a speed zone review.

“The section reviewed has a railway crossing which was upgraded as part of the Inland Rail project and has resulted in the crossing being raised, as well as the installation of flashing lights and boom gates,” Mr Lunn said.

“There are also a number of dips in the road, three T-intersections, a four-way intersection with Mingelo Street, as well as a number of property accesses, including two into the Peak Hill Showground.

“Reviewing speeds is an effective way to improve safety by reducing the likelihood of crashes. The roadside environment along this stretch of Coradgery Road and Mingelo Street is appropriate for the slower limits.”

The changes, which take effect on Monday 28 August, are:

•    Increasing the 50 km/h limit to 80km/h on Coradgery Road from 80 metres east of Dows Lane to 340m south – west of Dows Lane.

•    Reducing the existing 100 km/h speed limit on Coradgery Road to 80 km/h from 340m south-west of Dows Lane to 2.12km south-west of Dows Lane.

Electronic message boards will be in place on the approaches to the new speed zones. Motorists are reminded to drive to the sign posted speed limit at all times.
