New school, new school zone for Melonba

Published
Transport for NSW is installing a school zone for the new Melonba High School to provide a safe environment for students.

The school zone will cover roads around the school including Galah Street, Elara Boulevard, Rakali Parade, and Swallowtail Street in Melonba.

Transport for NSW will carry out the work between Wednesday, 27 December and Monday, 29 January, weather permitting, from 7am to 5pm and 8pm to 5am.

There will be temporary traffic changes during our work hours to ensure the work zone is safe.

Motorists are advised to follow signs and traffic controllers’ directions. Access for residents will be always maintained.
Work will require a non-destructive digger truck for excavation for posts, a platform ladder and crane truck for sling lifting the flashing lights signs to posts, and a sweeper truck suction for line marking.

Some of the work needs to be carried out at night to limit disruption to traffic and reduce safety risks to our workers, pedestrians and motorists.

There may be some noise with this work, but every effort will be made to lessen any disturbance by using non-tonal beepers on reversing vehicles, turning off machinery when not in use and using targeted lighting to reduce light spill.

The new school zone will be in operation as of Tuesday, 30 January and will operate from 8am to 9.30am and 2.30pm to 4pm on official school days with flashing and static signage as well as road and pavement markings.

Transport for NSW thanks the community for their patience while this work is carried out.
