Plan ahead as rail repair focuses on T2 Inner West Line this weekend

Published

Sydney Trains passengers travelling on the T1 Western, T2 Inner West & Leppington and T9 Northern lines should plan their trip this weekend, with some trains running to a changed timetable and stopping pattern as we carry out essential maintenance.

T2 Inner West Line trains will not be running between Flemington and Macdonaldtown from 10pm Friday 14 July to early Monday morning, however, T1 Western and T9 Northern Line trains will make extra stops at Inner West stations to help passengers get to their destination.

We will have 1360 staff on site carrying out a variety of work, including the removal of 26 high-priority defects. In addition, they will inspect 5km of overhead wiring, which will clear a backlog of 14 electrical jobs.

On Saturday 15 and Sunday 16 July, T2 Leppington Line trains will run between Leppington and Olympic Park via Granville, and between Leppington and Lidcombe via Regents Park only.Passengers may need to change trains to continue their journey.

Anyone travelling from T2 Leppington Line stations can also change at Glenfield for direct trains to the City via the Airport.

Passengers are advised to check their Opal app, or transportnsw.info for up-to-date information on their line.

Metro works on the T3 Bankstown Line

Buses continue to replace trains between Lidcombe and Sydenham on the T3 Bankstown Line for a final weekend to facilitate Metro enabling works. Sydney Trains will use the opportunity to carry out maintenance and inspections of overhead wiring, signals, track and drainage.

Trackwork next week

On the T1 North Shore Line, nightly from 9.30pm to 1.30am Monday 17 July to Wednesday 19 July, buses will replace trains from Hornsby to Central.

On the Blue Mountains Line, nightly from 7.30pm to 3am Monday 17 July to Wednesday 19 July, buses will replace trains between Lithgow and Penrith.

Sydney Trains is working hard to minimise the impact on passengers by completing work outside peak periods. Passengers are encouraged to allow extra travel time and plan ahead by visiting transportnsw.info or using trip planning apps on their mobile devices.

Sydney Trains thanks our passengers for their patience as we work to build a more resilient and reliable network.
