Rail network update for the PM peak
Passengers are advised that significantly reduced services will continue across the rail network for the rest of the day.
Sydney Trains are planning to run a normal timetable tomorrow.
All suburban lines are running, but at considerably reduced frequency and with all stop services - except for the T4 which is running to a regular timetable.
This means it will take passengers longer to reach their destinations.
Intercity services on the Blue Mountains, South Coast and Newcastle Central Coast lines are also running to a normal timetable.
Suburban passengers are advised to avoid or delay travel or use alternative transport if possible.
Regular bus services and Sydney Metro are not impacted, and Metro has increased frequency to every 4 minutes until the end of peak today. Bussing will continue to support train services for the remainder of the day.
Passengers on the following lines are advised of changes:
- T1 Richmond line passengers will need to interchange at Blacktown for connecting services to/from the CBD
- T2 Leppington and T3 Liverpool & Inner West Line customers will need to interchange at Lidcombe for connecting services from/to the CBD
- T5 Cumberland customers will need to interchange at Granville for connecting T1 or T2 services
- T8 Airport line customers will operate to Campbelltown from Platform 23 at Central.
Limited supplementary buses have been arranged for Hornsby, Penrith and Campbelltown, as well as buses to link to Metro services at Tallawong with Schofields.
Our priority is maintaining a frequent train service across the entire network to ensure everyone can get home this afternoon. Some lines may experience service gaps of 20-30 minutes.
Additional customer service attendants are deployed at key locations to assist passengers.
We acknowledge how frustrating this has been for passengers and apologise for the ongoing disruption.
Passengers should plan ahead, listen to announcements and check information displays for service updates.
