Rail Repair Plan trackwork targets Western Sydney and Cronulla

Passengers are urged to plan ahead this weekend as essential Rail Repair trackwork will take place on parts of the T1 Western, T3 Bankstown, T4 Illawarra and T5 Cumberland Lines.

Sydney Trains will have more than 800 workers undertaking a significant amount of work to remove around 60 high-priority defects.

On the T1 Western and T5 Cumberland Lines, buses will replace trains between Richmond and Blacktown.

On the T3 Bankstown Line from 10pm on Friday, buses will replace trains between Lidcombe, Cabramatta and Bankstown. On Saturday and Sunday, buses will replace trains between Lidcombe, Cabramatta and Sydenham.

On the T4 Eastern Suburbs & Illawarra Line, buses will replace trains between Cronulla, Sutherland and Hurstville.

Passengers heading to and from the city this weekend are advised there may be significant delays queuing for rail replacement buses, including at Sydenham which is a major transport hub.

Please consider these alternative travel options:

• You may wish to park your car at Holsworthy, Revesby, Riverwood or Padstow multi-story carparks. Trains are running all weekend on the T8 Airport & South Line and this may be a quicker option than catching replacement buses.
• A variety of local buses run from Bankstown Line stations to T2 Inner West & Leppington Line, T4 Eastern Suburbs & Illawarra Line and T8 Airport & South Line stations. From here you can catch a train direct to the city. Extra trains are running between Ashfield and Kingsgrove via the City Circle and Airport.
• L1 Light Rail services run every 10 minutes from Dulwich Hill to the city all weekend.
• Consider catching a T2 Inner West & Leppington Line train which run direct to the city via Granville all weekend.

Intercity services

On the Hunter Line, from 8:50pm to 2:20am on Saturday, buses replace trains from Newcastle Interchange to Telarah. Also on Saturday, from 9:45pm to 3am, buses replace trains from Telarah to Newcastle Interchange.

On the South Coast Line, buses replace trains between Sutherland and Hurstville.

Trains run between South Coast Line stations and Sutherland only.

On the Southern Highlands Line from 10am to 4pm on Saturday, buses replace trains between Moss Vale and Campbelltown.
