Score big with public transport for State of Origin series decider

Transport for NSW Coordinator-General Howard Collins said fans getting behind the NSW Blues on Wednesday, 9 July, have public transport included in their game tickets.

“To make sure you are there in time for kick off at 8.05pm, avoid weeknight peak traffic and catch public transport. The best part is travel on all modes of public transport is included in your match ticket. Just show your ticket to transport staff when boarding services.

“There will be plenty of extra trains and major event buses running to and from Sydney Olympic Park. Do not drive to Olympic Park unless you have pre-booked parking.”

Express and limited-stop trains will run to Sydney Olympic Park from Central and Western Line stations from mid-afternoon, with frequent return services after the game running until late.

Sydney Olympic Park Major Event Buses will run on all nine routes every 5 to 20 minutes to get fans to the game with services running between 3:40pm and 6:50pm, depending on the route. The last return bus on each route will leave Olympic Park about an hour after the game has finished.

“If you haven’t pre-booked parking, consider parking at a commuter car park and continuing your trip by train or bus to Olympic Park. Disney on Ice shows are also taking place at neighbouring Qudos Bank Arena from 3pm and 7pm so the precinct will be busy. Motorists should allow plenty of extra travel time on the roads as heavy traffic is expected during the busy weeknight peak.”

“Stay safe on game day. Plan to arrive early and soak up the pre-game atmosphere! Use public transport where possible and only drive if you have pre-booked parking. Remember to carpool, allow extra travel time, and adhere to all road rules,” Mr Collins said.
