Speed zone changes on the way at Tocumwal

Published

Motorists in Tocumwal will soon experience safer journeys with speed zone changes to be introduced next week.

A Transport for NSW spokesperson said a review of speed zones was carried out at various locations at the request of Berrigan Shire Council in response to community concerns.

"The review recommended changes to some existing speed limits due to past crash history and increased pedestrian and cyclist movement in the area,” the spokesperson said.

“As a result, the speed zone at seven locations will be reduced with the new speed limits to take effect from Friday 9 June 2023.”

The speed zone changes include dropping from 100 km/h to 80 km/h on Hutsons Road from Burma Road to 110 metres east of Nugget Fuller Drive, on Burma Road from Babingtons Road to 160 metres north of Flight Place, and on Babingtons Road between Burma Road and Thorburns Road.

The speed zone changes will also include dropping from 80 km/h to 50 km/h on Hutsons Road starting 25 metres east of Hannah Street for almost 300 metres, on Bruce Birrel Drive from Racecourse Road to 180 metres north of Bruton Street, on Hunter Drive between Bruce Birrel Drive and Keogh Drive, and on Keogh Drive.

Signs will be in place to advise motorists of the changed traffic conditions.

Motorists are advised to follow the directions of signs.

Transport for NSW thanks motorists for their patience while the new speed zone signage is installed.
