T2 and T5 train services to run again after vandalism

Train services will recommence between Cabramatta and Granville on the T2 Leppington & Inner West and T5 Cumberland Lines from 4:30pm this afternoon.

The afternoon peak will see minimal impacts as a result. Buses will continue to supplement train services.

Earlier vandalism to critical signalling cables at Guildford saw buses replace trains in the area.

Signalling failures were detected around 3am this morning. Incident response teams were dispatched and found that critical cables had been cut by vandals.

Repairs were completed just before 1:30pm, then signalling engineers tested the integrity of the signalling system.

Sydney Trains thanks passengers for their patience while we undertook critical repairs to bring services back online.

Sydney Trains are working closely with NSW Police who are investigating the matter.
