T6 Lidcombe & Bankstown Line reopens for train services from 30 June
Sydney Trains passengers in the Lidcombe to Bankstown area will be able to catch train services on the T6 Line once again from 30 June after critical Sydney Metro work is completed.
The T6 Lidcombe & Bankstown Line was closed from 27 April 2025 for 9 weeks, with train services replaced by fare-free replacement buses.
From 30 June, the T6 will run a normal rail timetable again, stopping all stations: Lidcombe, Berala, Regents Park, Birrong, Yagoona and Bankstown.
The closure allowed Sydney Metro to undertake major construction works associated with the extension of the Sydney Trains platforms at Bankstown Station, including installation of a track layout that allows access to both platforms at Bankstown station, as well as signalling upgrades.
This comes ahead of the greatly anticipated Southwest Metro opening in 2026, connecting passengers from Sydney’s West into the CBD and across Sydney via a world class new Southwest Metro service.
Passengers will benefit from a new fully air-conditioned Sydney Metro train every four minutes in the peak in each direction with lifts, level platforms and platform screen doors for safety, accessibility and increased security.
