Tap on for your trip to the new Allianz Stadium

The redeveloped Sydney Football Stadium at Moore Park launches with a sold-out community open day and night on Sunday 28 August, and there’s no better way to get there than by public transport.

Transport for NSW Chief Operating Officer, Howard Collins, said with a jam-packed opening celebration planned and a crowd of more than 40,000 expected in the first week of September, public transport is the most convenient way to travel to the new stadium.

“Allianz Stadium might be new, but the way to get there is the same. For those heading to the community open day on Sunday 28 August travel on public transport is made even easier with the cost of your trip included in your ticket,” Mr Collins said.

“Trains run regularly to the city where you can connect with frequent L2 Randwick and L3 Kingsford light rail services which run direct to Moore Park. Plenty of regular route buses also make stops within walking distance of the stadium.

“There will be additional light rail services for each opening event. Once you’re at Moore Park, it’s only a short stroll to Allianz Stadium and we’ll have additional staff on the ground to make sure you find your way there.

“For those who want to get their steps up, Allianz Stadium is a 25-minute walk from Central to Moore Park via Devonshire Street and the Albert ‘Tibby’ Cotter Walkway, which is also a great way to avoid queues.

“If driving is your only option, carpool with your group and aim to arrive with plenty of extra time to spare as traffic will be heavy in the precinct ahead of each event and parking will fill quickly. You can also pre-book a space at the Entertainment Quarter car park online.”

A reminder that face masks are mandatory on public transport and in public transport waiting areas. Customers are also reminded, under the Opal Terms of Use commuters are required to always carry a valid ticket. An Opal card, contactless payment card or device, or Opal Single Trip Ticket is not considered a valid ticket unless it has been tapped on.
