Upcoming works across Sydney’s road network

Motorists are advised of changed traffic conditions on the Anzac Bridge and Sydney Harbour Tunnel from tonight for maintenance and upgrade works.   

Anzac Bridge 

Lane closures will be progressively introduced on the Anzac Bridge, in both directions, from 10pm tonight, Friday 12 May. A full closure of the bridge will be in place from 12.30am to 5:30am. All lanes will gradually reopen to traffic by 7am. 

During the full closure, westbound buses and motorists approaching the bridge will be diverted at Bridge Road and can use Ross Street, Minogue Street and The Crescent instead.  

Those travelling eastbound can use City West Link, The Crescent, Ross Street and Parramatta Road. Heavy vehicles should use Parramatta Road. 

Sydney Harbour Tunnel 

The Sydney Harbour Tunnel will be closed tonight (Friday 12 May) southbound only from 11pm to 5am for maintenance works.  Motorists can use the Sydney Harbour Bridge during these times.   

Sydney Harbour Bridge 

Up to five lanes on the Sydney Harbour Bridge deck will be closed for maintenance and upgrade works from Sunday night, details below:   

  • Sunday 14 May – 10pm to 4.30am  

  • Monday 15 May – 10pm to 4.30am  

  • Tuesday 16 May – 10pm to 4.30am  

  • Wednesday 17 May – 10pm to 4.30am  

  • Thursday 18 May – 10.30pm to 4.30am  

Motorists can use the Sydney Harbour Tunnel as an alternative route during these times. 

The Cahill Expressway will be closed southbound for essential maintenance work as per below: 

  • Sunday 14 May - 10pm to 4.30am.  

  • Tuesday 16 May - 10pm to 4.30am 

  • Wednesday 17 May - 10pm to 4.30am 

  • Thursday 18 May - 10.30pm to 4.30am. 

Please drive carefully and follow the directions of signs and traffic crews. Motorists are reminded there will be no access from Warringah Freeway southbound off-ramp to Alfred St North northbound. This is a permanent change as part of the Warringah Freeway Upgrade. Motorists are advised to follow local detour signs.       

 Additional transport changes across the Sydney network 

Metro: 

Passengers are advised to plan ahead as buses replace Metro North West services between Tallawong and Chatswood from 2am Saturday 13 May to 2am Monday 15 May while essential maintenance work is carried out. Travellers can also switch to Sydney Trains services at Epping and Chatswood.   

 Rail: 

For rail passengers travelling on the T4 Eastern Suburbs & Illawarra line, buses will replace trains between Cronulla, Waterfall, and Central from 2am Saturday 13 May to 2am Monday 15 May.   
   
On the T3 Bankstown line, buses replace trains between Bankstown and Central overnight from 9:30pm Saturday 13 May to 2:30am Sunday 14 May.   

Sydney Trains reminds passengers due to the bus driver shortage, this weekend’s replacement bus services will be limited. We apologise for any inconvenience and thank our customers for their patience.  

 Light rail:  

Due to essential track and maintenance works, L2 Randwick and L3 Kingsford light rail services will not run between Circular Quay and Randwick or Juniors Kingsford for three consecutive nights from Monday 15 May. 

Replacement buses will run regularly between Central Chalmers Street and Randwick or Juniors Kingsford from 9pm on Monday 15 May, Tuesday 16 May and Wednesday 17 May. Light rail services will resume each morning at 5am. 

L1 Dulwich Hill Line light rail services will continue to run as per normal schedule.
