Warwick Farm Commuter Car Park Upgrade A Win For Local Public Transport Patrons

Public transport is becoming more accessible in Sydney’s west with the release of hundreds more spaces as part of the Warwick Farm Commuter Car Park upgrade.

State Member for Holsworthy, Melanie Gibbons MP, said the two additional levels provides 250 extra car parking spaces for people using public transport.

“The NSW Government has made it a priority improve access to train stations for local commuters, particularly in Sydney’s greater west,” Ms Gibbons said

“The newly completed expansion of this multi-storey car park means total capacity is now more than 740 spaces, which is a terrific boost for public transport patrons.

“Key features include a new lift and extension of the existing lift, additional accessible parking spaces close to the station, new motorcycle parking bays, and upgraded CCTV, lighting and wayfinding signage.”

This new section was built with a range of sustainable features including:

  • a rooftop with more than 600 solar panels
  • provision for future electric vehicle charging stations
  • concrete with 30 percent recycled mix material
  • reinforced steel with an estimated content of 70 per cent recycled scrap.

Around 530 people worked more than 55,000 hours to complete the car park with 2100 cubic metres of concrete poured while 49 tonnes of structural steel and 210 tonnes of reinforcing steel was used.

While the car park is now open for commuters, finishing work will continue and a new public art piece will be installed in the coming months. Transport Park&Ride infrastructure is also planned for this location.

This project is being delivered as part of the NSW Government’s Commuter Car Park Program, with more than $480.9 million being spent over the next four years to provide more convenient access to public transport at key interchanges.

The NSW Government has delivered more than 12,000 commuter car spaces across Sydney since 2011, with around 6000 additional spaces on the way.
