Regional Emergency Road Repair Fund

The Regional Emergency Road Repair Fund (RERRF) supports regional councils to continue vital repair and maintenance work following recent severe weather and natural disasters.

Program objective

RERRF will provide an additional $390 million to regional councils for vital repair and maintenance work for the road network still reeling from recent natural disasters and devastating weather.

The fund builds on the $280 million allocated to regional NSW councils through the Regional and Local Roads Repair Program.

These initiatives are providing $670 million in much needed funding for NSW regional areas recovering from natural disasters to maintain an efficient, safe and reliable road network.

Ninety-five regional Local Government Areas (LGAs) are eligible to receive funding with allocations based on the kilometres of Regional and Local roads managed in their LGA ($/km).

This will be based on the previous submissions made under RLRRP from January 2023.

How funding can be used?

Funding is available for priority repair and maintenance activities including:

  • immediate repair of potholes on Local and Regional roads
  • heavy road patching
  • reshaping and smoothing unsealed roads
  • drainage and culverts
  • rehabilitating sections of road
  • resurfacing work.

Program outcomes

With councils managing more than 85 per cent of the NSW road network, RERRF is about making it simple for councils to access funding to repair and recover impacted roads.
