Temporary Traffic Management

The team provides technical and implementation advice on temporary traffic management standards and designs to help ensure the safe and efficient delivery of Transport for NSW (Transport) construction and maintenance road work sites.

Temporary traffic management is about how traffic and other road users are managed around, past or through a worksite to ensure the safety of both workers and road users.

Key tasks include:

  • Championing a risk-based approach to temporary traffic management policy, standards and implementation that focuses on the elimination of risks to health and safety
  • Representing Transport on Austroads National Harmonisation of Temporary Traffic Management Practice project
  • Partnering with Transport and industry stakeholders to inform the development, design, and effective delivery of innovative and consistent traffic management across Transport work sites
  • Providing technical support for Transport and industry practitioners.
