Divisional/Regional Development Committee

Role

To advise councils on proposed traffic generating developments that will generate traffic onto both classified and unclassified roads. The size and type of development to be referred to Transport for NSW (TfNSW) is defined within the Schedules of State Environment Planning Policy No. 11 (Traffic Generating Developments). Large scale developments, as defined in Schedule 1 of State Environment Planning Policy No. 11 (Traffic Generating Developments), are referred to the Regional Development Committees.

Authority

Established by TfNSW in order to meet its responsibilities under State Environment Planning Policy No. 11.

  • Transport Workers Union *

TfNSW provides clerical support, including minute secretary.

Council Development Committees

Role

To advise councils on proposed traffic generating developments that are the size and type of development defined in Schedule 2 of State Environment Planning Policy No. 11 (Traffic Generating Developments). Smaller scale developments that do not need to be referred to the Regional Development Committees are dealt with by the Council Development Committees.

Established by TfNSW in order to meet its responsibilities under State Environment Planning Policy No. 11.

  • Police Service
  • Transport for NSW *
  • Department of Urban Affairs and Planning *

The Council provides clerical support, including minute secretary.

Meetings

Meetings of both types of Committees are scheduled when Development Applications are referred to the committee. Meetings are closed to the public. However, representatives from council and/or the developer may be present at the invitation of the Chairperson.

Submissions

Submissions to Development Committees are confidential. The recommendations of a committee are passed back to the council for determination. For further information contact your local council.
